The Jonas Centre - Memorial Woodland Project

Our community planting day took place on Saturday 1st December 2018 and we planted around 50 trees native to Wensleydale for future generations to enjoy along with a selection of bulbs (3000+!) so that the Centre would be full of colour in 2019.

The trees were planted around the Jonas prayer barn and the Centre grounds thanks to Awards for All funding. The funding has also allowed us to create a bigger games shed with a new table football facility, a decking area for star gazing along with the purchase of lunar binoculars, tripods and telescopes.

Local people and supporters have also contributed £50 to plant a tree in memory of a loved one, which will be commemorated on a plaque in the Prayer Barn and now appears on this page.

Remembering a loved one in a unique and special way by dedicating a tree, supports woods and wildlife for generations to come.

On the day around 50 people attended including staff, locals and regular guests who travelled from Bradford & Sunderland to support the day.

Centre Director Simon Eastwood said “We had a great day creating something special for present and future generations to enjoy.
